We are women with a Purpose!

“United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.” –UMW

Miami Lakes United Methodist Women (UMW) are focused on four areas of service.

First,

We are a group of women just like you! That have come to know God and experience freedom through Jesus Christ. We pray and study together in our meeting programs and with our sisters during mission studies in our local area and conference activities.

Second,

We support each other with child care during our meetings, prayer, encouragement to read the Bible, and participate in local mission projects such as the Miami Rescue Mission for Women and Children and HIS House. It is important that we have fun together and this happens in sharing a meal at our meetings and special events with fundraising going to local missions.

Third,

Working for Justice Through Service & Advocacy

Beginning in 2016, United Methodist Women’s work will focus on four priority areas.

Fourth,

Helping women in our global community through: Global Outreach Programs

Finally, and Most Importantly

We are women of all ages who choose to join UMW to grow personally and collectively in programming and giving that includes our shared giving to the District Mission Pledge as well as using the prayer calendar at our meetings to acquaint ourselves with missionaries around the world. The integrity and dignity for women and children around the world is forefront in the actions of our mission dollars. It also can be felt in the monetary support for our local children to go to UM summer camp.

Our unit locally is close knit group so we join together with 800,000 other women in the USA, making pennies turn into hands that make the lives of women and children around the world safer and more productive. Women like you learn leadership as a local unit officer or as a candidate for Women’s Division administering a 17 million dollar budget for missions in this country and around the world.

Your participation is a blessing and a gift to yourself and others.

See us in action!
